I would like to emphasize that the four Bridge Kingdom books are arranged into duologies set in the same world. Books 1 and 2 primarily delve into the relationship and lives of Lara and Aren, whereas books 3 and 4 revolve around Zarrah and Keris.

Synopsis: The Bridge Kingdom Series
Book 1: The Bridge Kingdom
Lara is a warrior princess who was trained in isolation in the kingdom of Maridrina ruled by her evil father Silas. Her born-given mission is to defeat the enemies of the kingdom no matter what it takes. Now that it is her time to leave the kingdom she is an absolute about two things that King Aren of the Bridge Kingdom is her target and that she will bring him to his knees. But she will first have to play the part of a bride who brings peace to arrive safely on the treacherous journey to the Bridge Kingdom. As she adjusts to her new home, she infiltrates the kingdom and gains a deeper understanding of the battle so her kingdom can control the bridge. However, as a sleuth, she begins to question who the real enemy is as her feelings for King Aren alter.
Book 2: Traitor Queen
So I want to make this a spoiler-free review and synopsis so, something happens at the end of The Bridge Kingdom (book 1)….and it causes a bit of chaos. In The Traitor Queen book, Aren is locked up in Maridrina and now it is up to Lara to rescue him. But with an impenetrable fortress, she knows that she cannot breach the kingdom alone. So she will have to enlist a team of bandits to help her accomplish this great task.
Book 3: The Inadequate Heir
Now we are into the third book The Inadequate Heir. An heir and soldier named Zarrah of the Valcotta kingdom has a heightened motivation to defeat the Veliant family of Maridrina. The Endless War between Maridrina and Valcotta has gone on for ages leaving thousands of Valcottans dead and orphaned. Upon being entrusted with the command of the disputed city of Nerastis, Zarrah is ready to take whatever steps necessary to neutralize the Maridrinian forces and confront the Veliant prince. Yet, an unexpected encounter with an anonymous, and handsome Maridinian causes Zarrah to question many of her selective biases about Maridrina. As she continues to meet the nameless man each night, she discovers shared understanding and intense passion in his embrace. However, when their identities are revealed, Zarrah must choose whether to welcome a chance for tranquility or embrace the call to conflict.
Book 4: The Endless War
Finally, we are entering The Endless War. Among the formidable fortresses our courageous heroes have faced, Zarrah is confined in the most complex, treacherous, and impenetrable prison for crimes toward a kingdom. Keris will need to leverage his crafting skills to devise a highly strategic plan for her safe extraction. Zarrah’s escape holds significant importance, not only for her well-being but also for Valcotta’s security and prosperity.
The Review:
The Bridge Kingdom Series is a perfect blend of fantasy and romance, offering high stakes and political intrigue that classifies it as a “romantasy.” The pacing is excellent, especially in the first book, making it an ideal read for those new to fantasy series due to its helpful context clues. The series is notably spicy, particularly in the relationship between Zarrah and Keris. Interestingly, books two and three present the same events from different character perspectives, adding depth to the narrative. The introduction of new characters in books 3 and 4 brings excitement, with the love connection between Keris and Zarrah feeling particularly more strong than Lara and Aren for me personally. Fans of the series will be pleased to know that at least two more books are planned, focusing on the character Ahnna who is Aren’s sister! Overall, this series is great for those looking to get into fantasy who do have the attention span for it! I highly recommend this read!
